Exhibition Night
Tonight Charlie got to show off the projects he's been working on all year long. He was very proud of his "Box City" (picture to follow in later blog), which was a miniature version of a make-believe city. The kids brainstormed types of buildings/areas that a successful city might have including; residential, industrial, commercial, public lands/parks. Next they took a field day around Boise to help them identify how/where these areas might be and why. The kids mapped out their cities on a large piece of paper, then a couple of city planners came to the classroom to discuss what worked about and what needed improvement with their city. Finally, the kids made buildings (out of small boxes) and put their city together. The completed project was so amazing that they got to display a city at Garden City Hall and again at The Green Expo. The other component of the expedition included setting up miniature stores and businesses in the classrooms and practice being a vendor and a customer. Charlie was very proud of "The Art Studio." Other businesses included the recycling center, grocery store, telephone dispatch office, pet store, ice cream shop, etc. Charlie learned a lot about our community and commerce this year. School gets better every year. We're so lucky to attend Anser Charter School.
