My big boy just finished up a week of mountain bike camp. He got to explore the foothills of Boise with several friends and the fearless instructor, Savannah. Charlie informed us after the second day that he was the only kid who didn't have a gear bike (confirmed by Savannah). This made the hills a bit more challenging for Charlie. Of course, I pointed out that he had the strongest quads in the state of Idaho. It never occurred to me that a seven year old should have a gear bike until this day. Charlie has a pretty sweet dirt bike, but we went out and bought him a new (used) mountain bike anyway. Now he'll be ready for next year's class. I'm very proud of Charlie for working so hard.
