Budding Chefs: Charlie and Cole
New to the family is the "Kids Make Dinner Night." The kids are responsible for planning and preparing a dinner once a week (Charlie week 1,3 Cole week 2,4). We started two weeks ago when Charlie made miso-glazed salmon, wasabi mashed potatoes and steamed bok choy. It turned out to be delicious and we will definitely make it again. For Cole's night he made BBQ current jelly meatballs and steamed broccoli (forgot the picture-sorry Cole). The boys made these special meatballs when they spent a long weekend at Nana and Grandpa's house while John and I were rafting. Ann made them for an appetizer for a party. Charlie came home with the recipe (that he wrote out himself on a card). When we went grocery shopping the boys were insistent on the same brand everything (Bull's Eye BBQ sauce, currant jelly, and Armor meatballs). They also were particular about the cooking method...it had to be done just like Nana made it. The kids both really like being in the kitchen and they felt very proud of their meals. We look forward to lots more.

You'll have to start a new recipe section- with the hits. They sound so smart- remembering how Nana made it and what she used! Wow
