Is summer really over?

The past weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind. Megan and Skylar got to spend 10 days and 10 nights in our basement. If you've ever stayed at our house, you know that sleeping in the basement guestroom is never quite restful. While a good deal of time was spent hushing busy feet and loud mouths so the baby could sleep, we managed to get some fun activities in.

On night 2; John, Megan, Emily, Christine, Cheyenne, and I enjoyed an evening with Neko Case at Wood River Cellars Winery in Eagle. The music was fantastic (Neko is one of my favorites). The wine was tasty. The seats were fine-sunset and all. Afterward, John chauffeured the girls to Merritt's Country Cafe (a total dive) for world famous scones (aka big donuts). Along the way, the Roudebush girls harmonized on the "magic mike" and giggles were abound. Skylar survived his night with his first babysitter and the sitter, Arbor survived the 3 boys.

We also managed to take in the Saturday Market, have a picnic at the park, hit Alive After Five for music by Tony Furtado...

ooo-I must digress, Rod Stewart's impersonator was at AAF clad in a lavender tux, with tails, ruffly shirt and purple cowboy boots. That was a real treat for Megan. Yesterday as I was driving to the library, I stopped at a light and who was next to me but Rod, complete with big hair, driving his limo.

Okay, back to fun. James arrived Thursday night just in time for 1st Thursday (all art galleries are open late). We visited 2 or 3, then went to the Modern to listen to live music by Ned Evett and Bill Coffey. On Friday, Megan, James and my boys all rafted the Payette while I stayed home with the little one. On the Paulsen's last day, we did Art in the Park. Megan, it's been 5 days since you left and I miss you.
