"Mom-day"

Today was a slow Monday (aka "Mom-day" as I don't work today) in the Taylor household. Woke up, washed dishes and made a nice egg-y breakfast for the fam. The boys watched PBS Kids for 3/4 hour while I made some phone calls and addressed party invitations for Cole. So far we have duped the kids into thinking that there are only 2 channels for kids; PBS Kids and PBS Kids on HDTV, which has the same shows at different times. Then, the boys and I took a shower, got dressed and headed to the grocery store and post office. As we were driving home from the store, Charlie saw his friend Silva, rolled down the window and invited her for lunch (prior to discussion with moms). So, Silva and Rio came over for lunch and played, while Cindy (their mom) went for a run.

After the girls left, I started preparing co-op dinner while the boys made forts, played "birds" and bickered. At 4pm Cindy took my boys so I could finish making dinner (and plant the pansies into pots on the back patio, and wash 2 loads of laundry). I'm in the "food co-op" with 2 neighbor families. I make dinner and deliver to the other families on Monday, then on Tuesday and Thursday, they deliver dinner to us. It's a great deal b/c we end up with leftovers for Wednesday night and lunches. Anyway, tonight I made tortellini soup, beet salad and garlic bread. Normally I deliver the meals before 6pm, but John had to deliver tonight.

Charlie had his 1st soccer practice of the season at 5:30. There are 6 boys on his team and apparently games will consist of 3 to a team, and no goalie. He seemed to have fun meeting the new kids and showing off his skills. Practice was over at 6:15 and we came home for dinner and family meeting. After dinner, I took the boys for a walk while John made some phone calls for work. At the tail end of the walk, Charlie and Cole both fell on the dangerous chip-sealed road. There were tears... and blood. Both had to be carried home by dear mom.

The boys are finishing up books with John. It's 8:30. Today was truly "slow" b/c Cole did not have dance, we neglected Cole's violin practice, we didn't have any appointments, and I didn't take the boys to get their exercise at the zoo or park. When I look at it all written down like this, slow seems crazy! Off to bed. Ooops, there's 4 loads of clean laundry to be folded on the bed.
