The trip to the cabin in Island Park brought new adventures for us this year, including a trip to the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone. This wildlife center is home to several bears, wolves, and a few birds too. The animals came to reside at GWDC because they have all been too close to humans in some respect, be it wolves born into human homes or bears (or their cubs) who became nuisances in campgrounds or birds who imprinted on humans. The naturalists at the center were very knowledgeable about the animals and were enthusiastic in sharing what they knew. We spent several hours at GWDC and could have spent more. The boys loved watching the bears go on a scavenger hunt for their lunch. The owl/hawk talk was also really interesting.
