My hero

John and I went to see Josh Ritter (alone with his gui-tar, microphone, cute self and 300 adoring fans) sing at The Record Exchange on Saturday night. What a treat! I have always loved Josh, but up close crooning his heart away, by his lonesome, I heart him even more. His voice is so clear. His lyrics are so thoughtful. His stage presence is so... I noticed that he now wears a wedding ring. John asked me if I thought I had a chance jokingly. A girl can always dream.

I also secretly (well not so much anymore) think I might have a chance with Edward Cullen. The vampire from Twilight. I scoffed and scoffed (to myself of course) as friends read that smut...so UN-scholarly. But in my quest to keep abreast of pop-culture, I broke down and read it too. I could not put the book down. In fact, I told John I wished he was a vampire. He told me I was crazy. Yes maybe.

On Sunday while I prepared the garden for planting, the kids kept busy doing various yard activities. Charlie and Silva built a fairy house, complete with a letter of apology for "using some things that aren't from nature to build the house." Cole and Rio created a worm house with about 50 worms I found in the garden. The kids also rescued a toad from a imminent death (stuck down in the window well). All the while, John was playing in a softball tournament. Turns out my big, strong man was busy being THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER of the WHOLE tournament. I guess I can stop fantasizing about rock stars and vampires for a while because they ain't got nothing on my man!

I know what you mean about Twilight. When I finally caved and read it, Mike gave me a hard time. I told him if he loved me like Edward loved Bella, he would understand and not judge.--Jerri
