Creekside picnic, industrial sprinklers, and blackberries
What in the heck do those three words have in common? Summer fun, I say! The Ritchie girls and the Taylor boys met in the "highland woods" for a creek side picnic. After eating and playing in the water, we headed over to Highlands Elementary to pick blackberries. Much to our delight, the humungous sprinklers were running. Three of the kids played until they were soaking wet. Cole, was more interested in berry picking. He took his role as chief blackberry scout very seriously. Being small, he had a great view from the bottom up. Cole would identify a branch laden with blackberries and call out, "over here, over here, there's millions!" We ended up picking about three cups of blackberries. Cindy made a delicious apple-blackberry crisp with half, while I made ooey-gooey blackberry cinnamon rolls with the other half.
