Saturn if you're Charlie, Fernando if you're Cole

Today the boys and I adopted a pet. He answers to anything, really. Charlie calls him Saturn. Cole prefers Fernando. Said pet is our new betta fish. He is red with tiny little periwinkle sparkles that shine in the light when you look closely. I've never had a fish before...he is my first. Hopefully he'll make it through the night. When we brought him home, we had to transfer him from his travel container to the pictured bowl. After the boys cleaned the rocks and I carefully measured out the water, ensuring the correct temperature, I slipped him into his new home. Immediately after, I realized that I forget to put the tap water conditioner/aquarium de-chlorinator in the water before the fish. I quickly and calmly tried to remove him from the bowl, sans net (hands and measuring cups don't appear to work) without luck. Noted to self to purchase net before 1st bowl cleaning. The boys were all the while yelling at me to "get him out before you kill him. He needs his chemical. Mooommmm, get him out we said." Of course the little bottle had an adult-proof lid, which took at least 2 minutes to crack. I ended up delivering the 3 life-saving drops directly into the water with the fish and stirred it up with a spoon just in the nick of time. The whole fish bowl transfer was a little stressful for me and may have to defer the job to John. Despite the fish trauma drama, I think I can rest comfortably because Saturn if you're Charlie or Fernando if you're Cole, proved to have a healthy appetite, gobbling up his 4 little betta steaks in less than 1 minute.
