Pumpkins and parties and balls... oh my!
What a weekend! Friday's hallmark event was the pumpkin patch/corn maze/hay ride in Caldwell with Grammie and Grandpa Chas. The 45 minute drive was well worth the 2 hour extravaganza at Watson's Farm. We started the farm experience exploring the Mother Goose corn maze. It took about 1 hour from the time we entered to depart the maze. Nursery rhyme characters proved their trickiness as they directed us all the wrong ways thru the maze. Charlie loved looking for the clues to the following check-points. Cole was mostly scared that we would be lost forever. After the maze we went on a 20 minute tractor/hay ride around the farm, checking out the animals and the Snake River.
We picked out 4 huge pumpkins then headed to Alejandra's Mexican Restaurant in Marsing for una fiesta de cumpleanos for the birthday boy.
For dinner, Charlie chose fillet and king crab legs. Dinner fit for a king, complete with dessert fit for the kingdom.
Charlie celebrated his 6th birthday at Zoo Boise with 10 friends. In lieu of presents, Charlie decided (with my gentle encouragement) to collect contributions to "adopt" the lions...a win-win situation for the family and the pride. The lions benefit and our household isn't filled to the brim with plastic toys from China-yea!
The evening ended like all good evenings should-at the ball...The Anser Harvest Ball that is. There was pizza, candy, games, cake-walks and best of all-costumes. The Taylors went as a river rat, Ceres (the harvest goddess), Dash Incredible, and baby pumpkin. At the end of the night Cole wondered aloud why we didn't see any balls.
Thanks Grammie, Grandpa Chas, Nana, and Grandpa Doug for venturing to Boise for the birthday extravaganza. A good time was had by all.
